Proud dad Anthony, is taking getting muddied up and taking part in the Skipton Tough Mudder event on July 29th to raise money for Neoangels.
Anthony wanted to give back after his little girl Joy was cared for by our team earlier this year.
Joy, who was born weighing 7lb 15.5 ounces was taken to Intensive Care shortly after birth. Our team worked around the clock for the next two and a half weeks to nurse Joy back to health, and of course, well enough for her to go home with her mummy and daddy.
Anthony, told us: “As parents, having Joy in Intensive Care was a very difficult time. The team were so supportive and helped calm our initial panic and fears. You can read a library of books and watch all the videos possible but as soon as your baby is put in our arms, everything you learned soon disappears. Not only did the team do a wonderful job in nursing Joy to full health, but as first times parents, the help and advice we got from all the team ensured when we left the nit, we were confident in looking after her.
“Understandably, we didn’t want to leave Joy’s side, and thankfully the team allowed us to stay in a side room for the first week so we could be with hr 24/7. Without this, we would have been at home worrying senseless. The support that we all got as a family was fantastic and we cannot thank the Neonatal Unit at North Tees enough. It is a unit that most people won’t of heard of – including ourselves – but once you need it and have gone through this journey, you won’t forget it.”
We’d like to say a great big thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Anthony for being an inspiration, and wanting to help us help more families in the future. If you’d like to support him then you can find him on Just Giving here
