We are delighted to be supported by Jodie & Phil after their son Noah was cared for on our Neonatal Unit last year. Phil and five of his friends are taking on the Tough Mudder Challenge on July 30th – and we are in awe of their dedication!
Noah was born at 31 weeks on the 13th of December 2016, weighing just 4lb. Jodie and Phil were overwhelmed with shock and sadness after Noah was whisked off upstairs to our Neonatal Unit. Once Jodie and Phil could see their new baby boy, nothing prepared them for seeing him in an incubator receiving breathing support, covered in lines and under light therapy. The hardest part of their journey was not being able to comfort Noah how they wanted to, as they were only able to do so at first through the incubator port holes.
They spent 34 days on our ward, which also meant they spent their first Christmas as a family on here too. They are so incredibly grateful to our nursing staff and doctors for the amazing care they gave to them all through the Christmas period.
The pair cannot thank both the charity and the staff on the unit enough after all the help they received, from Christmas presents for Noah, to help with parking and meal vouchers and not forgetting the exceptional emotional support our staff offer families.
We are delighted to say that Noah is now home, thriving and a very happy little boy!
We are so touched by the family’s dedication to wanting to not only help us but help other parents who will go through this journey in future too.
