Proud mum Kimberleigh Aby is taking on the mammoth task of walking 12,000 a day in June to raise money for Neoangels. We did the math, that’s 360,000 steps for the whole month!
Kimberleigh is raising money for us after daughter Isla spent two weeks on our unit last September. Isla was born by Emergency C Section at 35 weeks and 6 days gestation after her mum Kimberleigh was rushed to hospital due to her placenta rupturing. Isla was rushed to intensive care weighing only 3lb and 10oz, while with us, she was treated for respiratory distress but very quickly made a recovery and went home 15 days later.
Mum, Kimberleigh said: “I want to do this because before I spent time on the Neonatal Unit, you take for granted the services the hospital offers. I watched all the amazing staff daily and seeing all the extras that go on on the ward really spurred me on to give back. I want to help the ward and other parents the same way I was helped. We still have Isla’s little Neoangles plaque above her cot.”
