On Sunday 13th December Santa paid an early visit to the neonatal unit at North Tees Hospital. He set up in his own special room where siblings and families of the babies on the unit got to spend a little time out telling Santa what they would like for Christmas and while they were there Santa gave them a little gift to take away.
Santa was also invited into each room by families on the unit to have his photo taken with babies who were currently being cared for, we must admit it was very touching and really makes you realise what fantastic work the unit and all of the staff do on a daily basis.
It was an absolute pleasure for the charity to have arranged and attended Santa’s visit. It was lovely to see all the smiles on the faces of children, parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, friends and nurses.
While we were there we asked if Santa would present a cheque to the staff for the combined total of all the Christmas events that had been arranged by the charity in the past month including our Christmas Fair, Albie’s Christmas Raffle and the craft and cake stall attendance at Christmas fairs, presenting a cheque for a fantastic £3430.71.
Due to the fact we had some presents left from Santa’s visit, before we left we called onto the Children’s Ward where Santa said hello to all the children and we were told by the staff that ‘we had made their day!’
We would like to say a special thank you to the following people:
