WHAT WE DO

Find out all about the help Neoangels offers the families on the Neonatal Unit at the University Hospital of North Tees, here…..
Financial Support
Having a baby on a Neonatal Unit can be very expensive, one of the biggest parts of our charity is helping families with this financial burden.
If your baby is born at 34 weeks gestation or less, you will upon completion of your application form ,have access to canteen vouchers (1 per parent per day) and parking passes for the main hospital car park. Once you have been on our unit for two weeks you will be entitled to Tesco vouchers to help with your travel expenses.
However, should your baby be born at 35 weeks or more and is very poorly or is likely to stay with us for a longer period, you will have access to the canteen vouchers, parking passes and travel expenses immediately.
Please ensure you fill out your application form on the unit (you can ask one of our many lovely nurses for one) or alternatively you can fill one out online here.

Emotional Support

We understand how incredibly stressful it can be to have your baby on a Neonatal Unit, which is why we do our best to offer emotional support to our families where possible. For example the ward has premature baby milestone cards for parents to use and celebrate the momentous achievements of their little ones. We also have Tiny Steps, My First Year journals available for families to use to document their time on our unit. Siblings often visit our unit and we know that hospitals can be ‘boring’ – so we have some jam-packed sibling towers full of activities, games and toys to keep them amused. We will continue to focus on more ways to support our families alongside our dedicated nurses, doctors, and ward staff.

Bereavement Support

In 2017 we have launched a bereavement element of Neoangels to support those families whose babies will sadly not go home with them. We have teamed up with the amazing team over at Liberty RainneĀ and designed beautiful memorial keepsakes which will be personalised to each baby. Our Angel Fund has launched, 100% of proceeds for this will be spent on providing bereavement support items for our families. We are also launching our unique memory making boxes for families to create beautiful lasting memories with their baby before they go home.

Medical Equipment

We have a remarkable team of Doctors and nurses and we like to support their amazing work with medical equipment. Since the charity launched we have provided breast pumps, Christmas scrubs for the nurses and stethoscopes and we are actively fundraising to buy a state-of-the-art incubator.
