We understand how incredibly stressful it can be to have your baby on a Neonatal Unit, which is why we do our best to offer emotional support to our families where possible. For example the ward has premature baby milestone cards for parents to use and celebrate the momentous achievements of their little ones. We also have Tiny Steps, My First Year journals available for families to use to document their time on our unit. Siblings often visit our unit and we know that hospitals can be ‘boring’ – so we have some jam-packed sibling towers full of activities, games and toys to keep them amused. We will continue to focus on more ways to support our families alongside our dedicated nurses, doctors, and ward staff.
In 2017 we have launched a bereavement element of Neoangels to support those families whose babies will sadly not go home with them. We have teamed up with the amazing team over at Liberty Rainne and designed beautiful memorial keepsakes which will be personalised to each baby. Our Angel Fund has launched, 100% of proceeds for this will be spent on providing bereavement support items for our families. We are also launching our unique memory making boxes for families to create beautiful lasting memories with their baby before they go home.
We have a remarkable team of Doctors and nurses and we like to support their amazing work with medical equipment. Since the charity launched we have provided breast pumps, Christmas scrubs for the nurses and stethoscopes and we are actively fundraising to buy a state-of-the-art incubator.
