Today we are honoured to announce the latest project from The Angel Fund.
The Angel Fund supports our bereaved families and Angel babies to offer extra care and love during a heartbreaking time.
Today we took the first ‘With Love From Leo’ boxes up to our unit which were greatly received from staff. Here’s our beautiful nurses Alison and Gabrielle with two of our boxes.
The boxes have been created in memory of baby Leo who grew his wings on our unit 2 years ago after a courageous fight.
Each box has been made with love and contains different memories our families can make with baby before they leave our hospital and come with prompts and guides to help families during the heart wrenching time. We have included:
Two woollen knitted lambs – one for baby and one for Mum / dad to snuggle in to. The idea being scents can grow on each lamb and these, if wanted, can be swapped before Mum and dad leave the Unit.
A Letters To Heaven writing set – a place for Mum, Dad, Grandparents , Aunties, Uncles, friends to write all they would love to say to baby and let baby take these to heaven with them.
A handmade bracelet – both Mum and Dad will receive a beautiful bracelet gift off baby.
A bath set – we have included organic baby bath wash and a beautiful hooded towel for baby to be bathed and dried with.
On Coming Alive journal – we have also included the acclaimed On Coming Alive bereavement support journal to help our families on their journey.
Beautiful knitted hats – we really wanted our Angel babies to have a special hat which was something a little bit different and special to them.
A keepsake keyring – a special handmade keepsake for families to be able to use and treasure.
A fluffy blanket
A photo frame and ink print kit – not all families are comfortable with having their photo taken so soon after the loss of their little one, this will allow families to still make a family photo, but with fingerprints, handprints or footprints.
The Heart in their Hand Project keepsake keyring. This stunning keepsake allows mum and dad to place a beautiful silver heart in baby’s hand to take to heaven while they take home the matching keyring.
We would like to thank Handmade by Erin with Love for the donation of the beautiful bracelets. The lovely Cathy at Heart In Their Hand for the generous discount. The lovely Mandy Marsden at Those Cards And Things for donating the letter writing sets, the beautiful Melanie at Little Star Gifts for making our keyrings, Emma for supporting us with the organic baby wash, and last but by no means least the fantastic Jo Owen and her amazing knitting crew at Blue Light Babies who knitted us our beautiful lambs and hats.
Thank you to LibertyRainne for your constant support and donations to the Angel Fund and every single family who has donated in memory of an angel.
Today it has been an honour to create something in their legacy.
We’d also like to thank each family who took the time to offer support, love and ideas on what should be included in our boxes. We’re sending lots of love to Greg and Jill, Mel and Rebecca.
